Veggie Gardens: 11 from real Napa & North Bay projects

A veggie garden is function first — sun, access, water, and good soil decide where it goes before any aesthetics do. But it still has to be a destination, connected to the kitchen and the rest of the property so you actually walk out to it. I design the beds and paths so the space is easy to work and pleasant to be in, then soften the hardscape edges with planting so it feels like part of the garden rather than a utility yard. Done well, it becomes one of the most-used spaces on the property.
