Walls & Stone Planters: 26 from real Napa & North Bay projects

Walls and stone planters do real work — they hold grade, carve out level ground, and give a sloped property usable rooms. But a wall that reads only as a wall is a missed opportunity. I design them as planters first: cap, height, and depth chosen so plants can spill over and soften the hardscape. Where a property already has good stone, I reuse it and let old and new run together, because the goal is continuity, not contrast. A wall should look like it belongs to the land, not like it was imposed on it.
