Water Features: 17 from real Napa & North Bay projects

Water should look like it originates naturally. I avoid the artificial, stacked-rock look and instead study where water would actually emerge and travel on a site — out of grade, between stone, along a low line — and design from there. Planting softens the edges so the feature settles into the landscape rather than sitting on top of it. And I place water where it's experienced: beside a destination where you'll sit, or on the line of sight from inside the house, so it's part of daily life and not a novelty in a corner.
